The 915 Gearbox Conversion: To handle the significant power increase, the car underwent an extensive and costly Type 915 5-speed gearbox conversion—a massive upgrade over the standard 901 unit. Far from a straightforward swap, this complex engineered modification required custom mounting points, a 916-style gear shifter, and an integrated oil cooler setup.
During the recent rebuild, the transmission was fully overhauled by renowned gearbox specialist Dave Lee and fitted with a brand-new clutch and associated hardware. The result is a precise, robust shift quality that completely transforms the car’s dynamics and elevates the entire driving experience.
